Lost In England

[Intro]

Lost in England,

blissful memories, indelibly stamped upon Maria’s mind.

The Fox and Pheasant, the red letter boxes,

the people, so gentle and kind

The Tudor enclaves, Colchester castle,

the flint lock walls, and the village pub.

[Bridge]

Bright sparkling brooks,

the soft British accent, Union Jack,

and her ticket stubs

[Chorus]

If I could grant Maria just one single wish,

I know what she will say

“Let me visit England one more time,

but this time, please let me stay”.

Reminiscing over every minute detail,

every footstep, each transient friend

Like a celluloid movie replayed in slow motion,

she never wants it to end.

[Interlude]

Back in Moscow life continues,

but she knows that it will never compare

To the feeling of driving down country lanes,

the wind ruffling her tawny hair.

[Verse]

Reflecting on now distant memories,

Maria’s heart beat resonates clear

To England, home of shepherds pie,

served with a warm and frothy beer

[Verse]

If I could grant Maria just one single wish,

I know what she will say

“Let me visit England one more time,

but this time, please let me stay”.

Please let me stay
