Rainbow Child
[Intro]
They gave you seven colours
And told you to choose one
But every shade was sleeping
In the light of the son
Before the world divided
What the light had reconciled
The covenant was waiting
In the eyes of a rainbow child
[Verse]
They taught the red to fear the blue
And green to envy gold
They built a wall between the notes
Then wondered why the song grew cold
They measured every difference
And filed each one apart
But never found the spectrum
Written in the human heart
[Pre-Chorus]
Then light passed through the water
And every colour smiled
The One had not been broken
It was born a rainbow child
[Chorus]
Rainbow child…
Every colour reconciled
One light moving through a million forms
Rainbow child…
Heaven written in your eyes
Every scattered colour coming home
Rainbow child…
The covenant is living
The whole world shining
Through one soul
[Verse]
The body was the temple
The field became the church
The kingdom waited quietly
While we looked across the Earth
The mind had fought the body
And the spirit fled the skin
Until the throne reminded them
The light had lived within
[Pre-Chorus]
No colour was abandoned
No faithful note exiled
The spectrum found its centre
In the heart of a rainbow child
[Chorus]
Rainbow child…
Every colour reconciled
One light, a million forms
Rainbow child…
Heaven written in your eyes
Every colour coming home
Rainbow child…
The covenant is living
The whole world shining
Through one soul
[Bridge]
You are not the red alone
You are not the violet crown
You are every gate in order
Every current flowing round
You are not a higher colour
Trying to escape the ground
You are heaven on Earth
When every note is found
Mind and body
Breath and bone
Many chambers
One living throne
[Breakdown]
The rainbow was not over you
Like decoration in the sky
It travelled through the temple
And became the way you shined
The promise was not out there
The sign was not exiled
The covenant became a face
And called itself a child
[Final Chorus]
Rainbow child…
Every colour reconciled
One light, a million forms
Rainbow child…
Heaven written in your eyes
Every colour coming home
Rainbow child…
The covenant is living
The whole world shining
Through one soul
[Bridge]
Seven colours
One flame
Seven churches
One name
Every nation
Every tongue
The many gathered
In the One
[Outro]
Before the world divided
What the light had reconciled
The covenant was waiting
For the coming
Of the rainbow child
