A Toast
[Intro]
Please be upstanding
and raise your glasses
for a toast.
[Verse]
To the woman that I married
and the life and times we shared.
To a dignified heart who showed me
how much she really cared.
To the myriad of friends and lovers
that we meet along the way.
To the ones we leave behind us
and to the faithful ones that stay.
To the futility of wasted Love
and the fragility of our mortal hearts.
To the bereavement of our emotions
as one love dies another starts.
To the butterfly that flew away,
a symbol of a love that failed.
To our relationship,
Like a butterfly's wings,
fragile, colorful and exquisitely detailed.
To the woman who gave me so much more
than mortal things.
To the woman whose beauty and innocence.
lifted me up on her butterfly wings.
Thank you.
