Ivory Towers
[Intro]
She heard me scratching
in my leather bound book,
I heard her tear drops fall.
My notebook of poems,
contained hidden instructions.
If only she could decode them all.
[Chorus]
Sitting all alone in an Ivory tower
Like an Angel with a broken wing.
Forlorn and desperately uncertain
Just like the songs she used to sing.
My words spoke of her deepest pain,
Words bleeding through the rhyme.
Muffled cries like silent raindrops fell,
if she could only turn back time.
[Verse]
Tracing her fingers through faded pages
where my lonely
shadows lay.
Each line a candle, burning in the darkness,
guiding hearts that lost their way.
[Chorus]
Sitting all alone in an Ivory tower
Like an Angel with a broken wing.
Forlorn and desperately uncertain
Like the songs she used to sing.
My words spoke of her deepest pain,
my words bleeding through the rhyme.
Muffled cries like silent raindrops fell,
if she could only
turn back time.
[Interlude]
[Verse]
The years passed slowly
through abandoned hallways,
where silence learned my name.
Tall candles that melted long ago
Left puddles on the window frame.
She was done with suffering
She was done with pain.
She was done with knowing.
That nothing would ever be the same
[Final Chorus]
The leather bound book
lay open upon the window,
where the cold moon softly shines
The hidden instructions
Not meant for strangers,
only hearts…
that could read between the lines.
Sitting all alone in an Ivory tower
Like an Angel with a broken wing.
Still searching through the broken pieces
of the songs we used to sing
[outro]
