IF [2.0]
If you can sacrifice the weekends
And the comfort of the crowd
And learn to walk alone in silence
Remaining humble, never proud
If you can fill a notebook
With words no one will read
and find comfort in obscurity
among a desert of tumbleweeds
If you can bear misunderstandings
Without needing to explain
And keep on tending hidden roots
Even when there is no rain
If you can witness others accelerate
While your harvest stays concealed
And trust that something deep within
Will one day be revealed
If you can walk without applause
Through long seasons of isolation
If you embrace poverty with a smile
And fortune without intoxication
If you can watch familiar roads
Disappear beneath your feet
And embrace unexpected turns
As opportunities to meet
If you can lose a cherished dream
Without abandoning your aim
And when downed, stand back up
Without ever feeling shame
If you can carry disappointments
Without turning your heart to stone
And greet each dawn with gratitude
even when standing alone
If you can do all these things consistently
And with a smile upon your face
I promise you will inherit
So much power…
so much presence…
And so much grace…
