Desert Storm
[Intro]
[Verse]
The desert wind whips up sand
To strip paint from flaking metal
Cleaning bones of fallen animals
Like rust from an old tin kettle
Sand dunes moved like silent waves
As shadows danced on walls
While high above
the swirling sand storm,
A hungry vulture calls
[Interlude]
[Bridge]
If I speak in the tongues of angels
but lack the minerals of love
I become like a clanging cymbal
A roaring lion
Seeking to devour
the inheritance of a peaceful dove.
[Chorus]
Studying shadows in Platos’ cave
Without ever asking why
Drawing maps of distant lands
While the truth
just walks on by…
Drawing maps of distant lands
While the truth
just walks on by…
[Verse]
A desert fox curls up in a burrow
while a Sidewinder plays a rattle
A Spadefoot toad burrows underground
To escape the heat of battle
While nature responds collectively
There is one exception to the rules
The empty ring of a hollow cause
Struck by silicon valley fools
[Interlude]
[Bridge]
If I speak in the tongues of angels
but lack the minerals of love
I become like a clanging cymbal
A roaring lion
Seeking to devour
the inheritance of a peaceful dove.
[Chorus]
Studying shadows in Platos’ cave
Without ever asking why
Drawing maps of distant lands
While the truth
just walks on by…
Drawing maps of distant lands
While the truth
just walks on by…
[Outro]
