Inside Job

[Intro]

No broken windows

No open door

No sign of footprints

On the old wooden floor

Someone moved the furniture

And changed all the locks

But never left one single trace…

Before everything turned to rock

[Verse 1]

I searched the distant skyline

For a sign beyond the stars

Followed every map

Counted every fading scar

I questioned every witness

No one claimed to see a thing

While underneath the noise

A whole new world was awakening

[Pre-Chorus]

The signal was calling

From a place outside the frame

It moved quietly through the organism

But stopped when it heard my name

[Chorus]

It ’s an inside job

You don’t break in

You don’t take stock

You take a piece of a mountain

And carve a key out of rock

f you want the key to the kingdom

Then surrender your vision

Don’t study books

Study nuclear fission…

[Interlude]

[Verse]

I wasn’t born outside the system

I was buried deep inside

I didn’t know the things I studied

Would one day coincide

Every breath kept me moving

Every heartbeat told the time

I was given both these things

And never pretended they were mine

Every breath supports the body

Every heartbeat keeps the rhythm

Nothing can be earned by works

When life is freely given

[Interlude]

[Pre-Chorus]

The signal was calling

From a place outside the frame

It moved silently through the organism

But stopped when it heard my name

[Chorus]

It ’s an inside job

You don’t break in

You don’t take stock

You take a piece of a mountain

And cut a key out of rock

f you want the keys to the kingdom

Then surrender your vision

Don’t study books

Study nuclear fission…

[Interlude]

[Verse]

First I had to learn the system

Every current, every seam

How the field remained together

How the pattern held the dream

I had to face the question

Sight can ever prepare you for

Why are you inside this body?

What were you created for?

[Pre-Chorus]

I asked the dream to tell me

Where the architect had gone

I heard the walls around me answer:

You’ve been inside it all along

[Chorus]

It ’s an inside job

You don’t break in

You don’t take stock

You take a piece of a mountain

And cut a key out of rock

If you want the key to the kingdom

Then surrender your vision

Don’t study books

Study nuclear fission…

[Outro]
